What to check before launching a business website

A practical pre-launch website check covering customer journeys, mobile use, accessibility, SEO, consent and measurement.

A website can look finished and still fail at the points that matter: the mobile menu, contact form, page titles, cookie behaviour or the route from a service page to an enquiry.

Test the customer journey

Start from the pages customers are most likely to land on. Can they quickly understand what you offer, who it is for and what to do next? Follow every important button and link.

Use a real mobile phone

Responsive previews are helpful but do not replace real-device testing. Check navigation, forms, accordions, sticky elements, images and tap targets on an actual phone.

Check accessibility basics

Use meaningful headings, visible keyboard focus, useful alternative text, clear labels and layouts that reflow without forcing horizontal scrolling. Accessibility is part of the customer experience, not a launch-day add-on.

Check search and measurement

Review page titles, descriptions, canonicals, indexability, internal links and sitemap output. Make sure analytics or advertising tags respect the live consent configuration.

Test forms and delivery

A successful on-screen message does not prove an email arrived. Test the full enquiry route, including validation, spam protection, SMTP or mail delivery and the recipient workflow.
